Hi Jeff! I'm Rishi, a senior at Duke from Jersey. Been a fan for a while- you're one of my favorite people to learn about product and investing from.

A little about me: I have experience working in product (Google APM internship, Notion Scholar), have held investment-like leadership positions (President of Eng. Student Government, Kairos Society), software (rigorous CS and ECE classes, Cisco), and have effected impact and created community as a leader on campus.

I put this together to organize my thoughts around the role and to share them with you. More on me here.

Let me know what the next part of the conversation might look like; happy to provide any additional info you'd need to make a decision!

Best, Rishi Tripathy [email protected]

<aside> 🗣 TL;DR: As described, the Chapter One internship is the work I need to be doing to maximize learning and impact and minimize potential regret early in my career. I can't think of someone better to learn and do alongside than you.

Disclaimer: If your vision for this position is to give someone an opportunity that will help them break into the space, please don't consider me- I'm already incredibly lucky and privileged to have lots of great opportunities.

If you want someone who can hit the ground running to build cool stuff with and have great conversations with regarding common passions, I'm your guy.

Executive Overview (subjective)

Hiring Points- why Rishi?

My goals:

  1. Isolate differences in lifestyle/work type between PM/VC, and see where each might fit in my career
  2. Build cool things that help people
  3. Gain mentors, skills, relationships that can help me as a founder in the future

Experience Overview (evidence-based)

Product/Eng Experience

Investment/Advisory Experience

Grit/Persistence

Interest by Defined Responsibilities

Supporting Companies

Super excited for this. Roadmapping and helping a company find direction (on either side of PMF) are things that I've done, practiced, and loved. Hiring is something I've done at low stakes (picking teammates for passion projects), but exposure hiring for product organizations would be incredibly exciting for a future founder like me.

Finding amazing companies

I'm a huge fan of Breakout List, and I think that you're never more than a smart Google search away from the answers to virtually every company. Growth and the factors surrounding it are fascinating to me- would love to practice the craft with you.

Study Club

Signed up for SC within the first two hours of it opening. Community-building and mentorship has been a big part of my senior year at Duke (teaching PM class/building product community, Duke Notion ambassador) and is my preferred way of giving back. I think this is a tremendous idea, and am interested in potentially taking this full time.

Working with LPs

Understanding the dynamics of managing LPs to build a fund, and the ways that an individual can gain and maintain trust, are both interesting to me. Fundraising for a product fund is something incredibly unique that has brings together so much of what drives tech- it'd be an unmissable opportunity.
